We are proud to support the academic community by offering free educational licenses for epanet-js! Students and faculty members at eligible universities and colleges can gain full access to our normally paid features, designed for professional engineers, at no cost. This initiative currently covers over 24,000 university domains worldwide.

How educational access works

Getting educational access is simple and automatic:

  1. Sign up: Register for epanet-js using your official email address provided by your eligible university or college.
  2. Automatic activation: Our system automatically checks your email domain against a comprehensive list of recognized educational institutions. If your domain is on the list, your educational plan will be activated immediately.
  3. Confirmation badge: You'll know your educational access is active if you see a green "EDU" badge next to your avatar icon in the top-right corner of the application interface.

Eligibility criteria

We determine eligibility using an external list maintained by JetBrains, known as the swot repository (https://github.com/JetBrains/swot). To be included in this list, an educational institution generally must meet the following criteria set by JetBrains:

A Note on Course Types: While our primary user base includes civil engineers, the eligibility list relies on the presence of IT-related courses as defined by JetBrains. This may exclude some institutions focusing solely on civil engineering without accompanying IT programs. However, we anticipate a significant overlap and believe most relevant institutions will be covered.

Frequently asked questions

What if my institution isn't recognized on the JetBrains list?

If you believe your university or college meets the JetBrains criteria above but your email domain isn't automatically granting educational access, your institution may need to be added to the JetBrains swot list.
